Children's Quilts & Bags for Brenda's House

Hancock County has one of the highest rates of children in the Department of Human Services (DHS) custody in the state.  The answer to a lot of people's prayers--a temporary place for children to call home when their homes have been rocked with turmoil.  This temporary place is called: Brenda's House.  When children are removed from their homes, Brenda's house temporarily takes them in.  Often, they only have the clothes they are wearing and no other items.  Bay Oaks Quilt Guild members have been making quilts and bags for children to have something to keep with them for comfort.

Quilt Shows

Every other year, the guild has a quilt show, showcasing quilts made by its members.  As part of the show, we sell tickets to win our opportunity quilt in a drawing and charge a small admission fee to view a large selection of gorgeous quilts, shop multiple vendors, and attend multiple mini-workshops for those interested in learning a skill in quilting or other fiber arts.  The proceeds above what is needed to finance the next show is divided among charities nominated and voted on by members of the guild.  Our next quilt show is May 10-11, 2019.
